Lee Family Vacation ‘09: Louisville to Knoxville

Yeah, yeah.  I didn’t post to the blog last night like a good boy.  I was too busy catching up with the Seatons.  I can sum up yesterday pretty easily: Wake up. Eat. Swim. Bathe, pack, checkout. Drive. Eat. Drive; see a license plate from Alaska (wee bit far away from home, eh?). Arrive at Hotel Seaton. Ride shotgun (me) in an hour+ mad-dash for The Watchmen on BluRay. Eat. Thoroughly enjoy The Watchmen. Sleep. Pretty good day, really.  Phil and Jess welcomed us to their new (and beautiful) home.  Got to take a tour in Jess’ new Nissan Murano (sweet!) as Phil and I scoured most...

Lee Family Vacation ‘09: B-Town to Louisville

The grand vacation adventure continued on today.  It began like any other Thursday, slowly, and with a bowl of Berry Captain Crunch.  After we all got our asses in gear, it was nothing but a packing frenzy.  Becca was non-stop-laundry-robot, Abby was question-asking-drone and I was, well, bewildered me.  Regardless, we had a deadline of leaving the house by 1 pm because Becca had a Dr.’s appointment today.  And don’t you know it?  We made it. The van was (is) FULL.  Not only did we pack for 6 days of vacationing with a rip-roaring toddler – replete with toys, tricycles,...

Lee Family Vacation ‘09: Camping at Lake Monroe

Welcome to the inaugural blog post for the Lee Family Vacation ‘09!  Becca took 2 weeks off of work, so it’s off to the races.  What do we have in store?  A few days are dedicated to sitting around and staring at each other.  We’re going to Knoxville, Tennessee tomorrow.  But our first major activity was a camping trip at the Paynetown SRC at Lake Monroe. This was Abigail’s first camping trip.  Becca’s been camping countless times with her family and a few times with me.  I’ve been camping on and off again my whole life – and a few under my belt...

And They Called Him Brutus

Et tu Brute? What do you do when your friends call saying they’ve found a stray kitten?  Most people would probably find a way to say no.  Not me and Becca.  Nope.  We said yes.  On Saturday night, friends John and Sarah brought us our newest family member. After much speculation, we decided to name him Brutus.  Why?  Well, it’s a complicated tale.  Our other cat is named Cleo.  We wanted to pick a name that was somehow connected.  My first instinct was Marc Antony (for all of you Julius Caesar fans out there) as he was Cleopatra’s love interest for a time.  For whatever...

Parenting + Working From Home = Juggling Act

Well, I’ve been a stay-at-home dad now going on 2 months.  During that time I’ve also been making varied attempts at bringing in additional income to keep the family afloat.  So far so good, but it hasn’t all been victories.  There have been some set backs, some of which are yet to be resolved.  Regardless, finances are in order, optimism is still in place (mostly) and I’ve been given a huge opportunity: To really get to know my daughter. I’ve been involved with Abby ever since she was born, but I’ve deferred to Becca for her motherly instincts.  That’s...
