God bless ye, Ryan Adams. I’ve got your entire catalogue (well, minus a few Whiskeytown records) on random. “My love for you is real…” That’s what was playing. Not saying that I love you – oh hell, who am I kidding?!?! Yeah it’s love. Like teenage girls love teen idols. Like cats love sleeping. Like kids love screaming. That kind of surface-level-it-makes-me-feel-good kinda love.
And then there’s the coffee. Another God bless ye to coffee. Today my caffeine laden nectar of life comes courtesy of the Copper Cup – downtown Bloomington. Used to be at this place almost everyday when I worked down here. So coming back here to do work is a touch ironic and nestalgic. But it’s great.
Let me be clear, I love being at home with my daughter, Abigail. She’s so beautiful, so funny, SO my child. But I took a major plunge: I started my own business (i.e. became unemployed by choice) and became a stay-at-home-dad literally the same day. WHAT WAS I THINKING? : )
Seriously, though, it’s been tough. But things are coming together. My business (if you can call it that, it’s a website and a few clients to pay the bills – nothing more, nothing less) is moving. My wicked Wordpress skillz are coming together and my dream to be a professional blogger is shaping up. But working part time and being dad full-time is a rough adjustment. I’m just thankful I’ve got a good natured, calm daughter. Couldn’t make it work if I had a hellion, whirling dirvish of a child!
Well, I came here to the Copper Cup for a reason. To be away from home, away from Becca and Abby and to get some work done. As my old coworkers would’ve said – GSD. Get Shit Done. There you have it.
